Equatorial Guinea-based Bernard Dong Bortey has revealed he is saddened by the plummeting form of his former side Hearts of Oak both on and off the field.

The FC Panthers player is enjoying a rich-vein of scoring form in the Equatoguinean league after registering nine goals.

On the contrary, Hearts are struggling to find the back of the net and experiencing an extreme downward spiral.

The 31-year-old says he is struggling to come to terms with the rapid decline in form of the club that first brought him prominence.

"The challenges Hearts are going through is surprising to me. They leave me wondering if this was the club that was the best in Africa," Bortey told GHANASoccernet.com

"Even dough I am not in Ghana now it hurts me to see them suffer this way. It really hurts.

"I pray they are able to fix things to ensure the club is restored to its previous glory days."

Bortey moved to Equatorial Guinea on a free transfer from Ghana Premier League side New Edubiase.
