Ex-Ghana international Joe Addo does not want the door shut on Richard Kingson ahead of the 2014 World Cup race, insisting the veteran goalkeeper has equal chance of making it to Brazil.

Kingson, 35, has impressed since he joined Turkish second-tier side Balikesirspor.

The former Galatasaray shot-stopper is holding onto a potential dream of playing at his last World Cup in the South American country.

Kingson has not played for the team since he was recalled into the team for the play-off first leg tie against Egypt last year.

His fine run of form has prompted speculations he could be in the running for place in Kwesi Appiah’s squad.

Former Ghana defender Joe Addo believes Kingson should be discounted in the race for a place in the final squad because he has fulfilled the criteria needed.

“He (Kingson) is playing regularly and seems to be in good form,” he told Peace FM

“What is the criterion for a call-up into the Black Stars? Playing consistently at club level is a major factor and so on that score he should not be discounted at all.

“I have said time without number that experience is key when going into such tournament. Not to talk about the biggest soccer fiesta in the world."

Competition for places in the goalkeeping department will be fierce with current Â  number one Fatau Dauda, Adam Kwarasey, Daniel Agyei, Razak Brimah, CHAN hero Stephen Adams are in contention for the three available slots.

Kingson is the longest serving member of the Black Stars with 90 caps under his belt.
