Emmanuel Osei-Kuffour has told Hearts of Oak's management to do all it can to retain the services of Uriah Asante.

The 19-year-old confirmed through his agent his decision not to extend his stay with the Phobians after his loan spell expired at the end of the last campaign.

Asante's declaration has seen rivals Asante Kotoko activate their interest in the player by putting in a bid to sign the exciting forward.

But Kuffour who became a legend at Hearts before eventually joining Kotoko at the latter part of his illustrious career though accepting it's the players’ prerogative to chose where to play says Hearts also have a responsibility to ensure they don't lose their best players especially to their bitterest rivals.

“I think management have to look at the situation and do something to keep him,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“They have to prevent him from leaving because when he moves to Kotoko, he might come back to hurt the club in future.”

Asante has been with Hearts for the past two seasons where he has been on loan from second tier club Pure Joy.
