Sulley Muntari and Michael Essien have started light training at AC Milan as they near full fitness from their injuries to hand Ghana a massive injury boost with barely two months to the World Cup.

Muntari suffered a calf injury in Milan’s impressive 3-0 win over Chievo on March 29 while Essien sustained a thigh injury in training the following day.

The Milan duo were initially feared to have sustained long term injuries but these fears were allayed following further examination.

Both players are expected to regain full fitness within two weeks after being hit with their latest setbacks.

The Ghana duo however appear to be making significant progress ahead of time as they took minimal part on the team’s resumption to training at the Milanello Sports Centre on Wednesday.

Essien did some strength and development work on the synthetic pitch while Muntari did some jogging.

The weekend’s home game against Catania might however come too soon for the Black Stars midfielders.

They are however expected to play a part in the subsequent Serie-A clash against Livorno the week after.

The two experienced players are expected to be named in Ghana's squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

With Essien and Muntari suffering injuries lately, do you think they will be key players for Ghana at the World Cup in June? Make your views known in the box below:
