Shillong: Aizawl FC were crowned I-League champions for the first time on Sunday after a 1-1 draw away at Shillong Lajong helped secure the point they needed to claim the title.
After a fascinating season in India, Aizawl finished the campaign one point ahead of Mohun Bagan who beat Chennai City in their final game.
On a day of high drama, William Lalnunfela netted the vital goal for Aizawl, the substitute scoring on 67 minutes to cancel out Dipanda Dicka’s ninth minute opener.
