Duncan says Kotoko’s success next season does not only lie on his shoulders

Nimble-witted Asante Kotoko coach David Duncan has revealed that the success of the club does not lie on his shoulders, insisting other factors must be considered.

The smart-looking coach earned for himself praises from the teaming supporters of the club after their 1-0 victory over AshanatiGold in the SWAG Cup played at the Baba Yara Sport Stadium yesterday.

Duncan was reported to have hinted that he would like to scout for his own players to be able to do what he wants instead of the players he inherited from Maxwell Konadu and Didi Dramani which he later denied.

Pundits of the game have since been waiting for the gaffer to recommend his own players which he has administered, signing nine players so far for the Porcupine Warriors.

Six of the new players played in yesterday’s success with four starting but the gaffer insist that signing the best players alone is not a guarantee for success.

“Buying players alone does not translate into winning trophies. Do you appreciate the factors that produce performance or the lack of it. There is more to it than just buying players,” Duncan said.

“I you buy a car and refuse to fuel it, will it be able to take you to where you want to go? We must be realistic in some of these issues,” Duncan added.
