Dundee United manager Peter Houston will open re-signing talks with Ghana midfielder Prince Buaben who is out of contract in 12 months.

Buaben has been a success since joining on a free transfer from Ajax Amsterdam in 2007.

His performances for United earned him an international call but failed to make it in Ghana's provisional World Cup squad.

Houston who was handed a permanent deal after a successful care-taker role is optimistic the youngster will stay.

“I’ll now be speaking to him about extending his contract," Houston said.

"I’ve already been in contact with Prince agent about extending their stays and will be meeting them soon,"

Buaben played a pivotal in Dundee United's Scottish Cup triumph for the just ended season.
