Sparta Rotterdam midfielder Patrick Joosten has expressed his desire to play for the Black Stars of Ghana when the opportunity comes.
The Dutch-Ghanaian born has already capped for the Netherlands U-21 team but is open to a switch to play for the Black Stars.
Joosten said his visit to his fatherland convinced him to play for the West African country.
“I visited the capital Accra in January, my mother is from the Netherlands and my father is Ghanaian”.
“It was not so easy how connected I felt with Ghana.” Joosten told voetbal
“I was largely raised by my mother and just received a Dutch education. I do have many African friends, but for a long time I showed little interest in my father’s country. That changed during my winter trip to Ghana. I have to say it was really special. I will love to play for Ghana if they an opportunity comes. ”, he added.
Patrick Joosten has made 15 appearances for Eredivise side Sparta Rotterdam and has scored three goals this season.
