Dutch side Vitesse deny Karikari interest

Dutch Eredivisie side Vitesse Arnhem have rubbished reports claiming they are interested in signing Ghanaian striker Kwame Karikari from Swedish side AIK Stockholm.

Reports in the Swedish media last week claimed the Vitas are preparing to table a bid to sign the 20-year-old as replacement for Ivorian hit-man Wilfried Bony who will join Russian side Zenit St Petersburg.

But Vitesse technical director Ted van Leeuwen says the club has no plans of signing the 2011 Ghana U20 striker.

"We haven't prepared a deal for Karikari but he is a very good striker," he told the Dutch press.

"He scored against PSV but we have no plans to sign him." he added.

Karikari has been impressive for AIK in both domestic and European campaigns; scoring 8 times in 17 games.
