Dutch Eredivisie duo AZ Alkmaar and Heerenveen have entered into a race to sign Ghanaian-Italian forward Kingsley Boateng from AC Milan, according to reports from Italy.

The 19-year-old Italy U21 player is on loan at Catania where he has managed just 5 games in the entire season but Heerenveen and AZ have been longstanding admirers of the forward and will put through a deal to sign him.

With AC Milan's stuttering form and the pressure to restore the pride of the Rossoneris, manager Clarence Seedorf is in no mood to experiment with youngsters and would not use the Ghana-born in his first team squad next season.

Heerenveen and AZ want to take advantage and sign the forward who excelled during the 2013/14 pre-season with Milan as Catania would not request for a further loan deal at the end of the season.
