Dwarfs labour to defeat Arsenals at home

Ebusua Dwarfs pipped Berekum Arsenals 1-0 in a keenly contested game at the Robert Mensah Stadium on Saturday.

A 11th minute strike from former Ghana Under-17 captain Kwame Frimpong helped Dwarfs to their second victory of the season and moved them to second place temporarily.

It was a game Berekum Arsenals relied heavily on the agility of goalkeeper Rasheed Muntawaki to minimize the loss.

Dwarfs, the host, underlined the degree of seriousness they attached to this fixture in the opening minutes of the game.

Midfielder Abdul Razak tested the strength of the crossbar with a powerful left footed drive from just outside of the Arsenal penalty area.

Arsenal tried to come into the picture but Rashid Sumaila, Seidu Bansi and Emmanuel Akong gagged the space in midfield.

The Gunners responded with midfielders James Boadu and Danjuma Moro expressing dominance in midfield but their attackers failed to make any meaningful impact.

Abdul Razak combined well with Kwame Frimpong with the latter firing a glorious strike at goal but Arsenal goalkeeper Rasheed Muntawaki tipped over the crossbar.

Bismark Asiedu then skied a golden opportunity to double the tally for Dwarfs just after recess.

Dwarfs continued to search for another goal but the Arsenal was at hand again.

A goal mouth melee saw Bismark Asiedu with a great opportunity to score but Rasheed responded with a world class stop.

The Berekum Arsenal goalkeeper showed great bravery to ensure the deficit remained1-0.

Rashid Muntawaki saved Siedu Bansi effort, goalkeeper stands between Arsenal and humiliation.
