Dwarfs sneak past Jaaraf FC in Confederation Cup

Ghanaian Premier League side Ebusua Dwarfs managed a 1-0 win over Senegalese side Jaaraf FC in the CAF Confederations Cup on Sunday.

The Mysterious Club scored mid-way through the second-half after missing a host of scorable chances in the first-half.

Striker Richard Gadze poked home from inside of the area after a rehearsed play from midfield.

This was a game that saw Black Stars psychologist Professor Mintah return to the bench as head coach after staying of since November.

Dwarfs, marking their return to continental action after 14 seasons, had a thin line of experience in their hold with former Ghana goalkeeper Patrick Antwi in goal.

Francis Morton, who played at the 2014 CHAN for Ghana was also in the Dwarfs line up.

Dwarfs had the lion's share of possession but failed to turn their dominance into goals. The Cape Coast-based side needed more patience in their build-up but that was an ingredient missing.

They were always rushing in the final third.

After break, Dwarfs took the lead through Gadze who kept his composure to convert from close range. The home side huffed and puffed to increase the tally and their hard work told when they won a penalty five minutes from time.

Dwarfs have a big task of keeping themselves in the competition.
