Three months after the completion of the highly-publicised Presidential Commission of Inquiry into Ghana’s 2014 FIFA World Cup campaign in Brazil, the final report is ready and awaiting presentation to the Presidency to officially put a closure on the four-month probe, the Graphic Sports has learnt.

There had been uncertainty over the presentation of the report by the Justice Senyo Dzamefe-led commission to the government after it was reportedly delayed due to Ghana’s participation in the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Equatorial Guinea.

Thomas Boakye-Agyemang, spokesperson for the commission, confirmed to the Graphic Sports yesterday that the three-man commission had wrapped up its work and was awaiting the green light from the government to present its report.

He said the commission worked round the clock to ensure its work was completed by the extended deadline of December 14, following which it wrote a reminder last month to the Presidency about its readiness to present a “voluminous and good” report.

“The report had been ready since December. On February 9, this year, we sent a letter to the Flagstaff House and copied the Chief of Staff and Ministry of Youth and Sports that we were ready to present the final report,” said Mr Boakye-Agyemang.

“We are awaiting a response from government to present the final report, which is a very voluminous and good report that covers everything in sports – policies and principles, systems and structures.”

The report, he added, would be a true reflection of testimonies taken from the 85 witnessed who appeared before the commission both in public and in camera.

He said the commission had closed its offices on the completion of its work and returned to the presidency and ministry all machinery given to it to facilitate the probe which officially commenced on August 4, 2014.

So far, the three members of the commission — Justice Dzamefe, Moses Foh-Amoaning and Kofi Anokye Owusu-Darko – have returned to their respective places of work pending the official presentation of the report.
