Teams from the Eastern Region can now take part in competitions organised by the Ghana FA following what appears to be the end a long drawn out legal battle between two major opposing factions.

The regional football association has been challenged by several law suits and counter suits over the legitimacy of its leadership for over two years.

The case overflew from the confines of the Ghana FA’s judiciary bodies into the ordinary law courts with now clear indication of its end.

But the regional football association conducted its ordinary congress last week to set modalities for competitions after what appears to be the end of its prolonged legal battles.

This means teams from the regional block can now take part in competitions sanctioned by the Ghana FA.

Two teams from the Eastern Region; Okwawu United and Istanbul FC were involved in the Round of 32 draw of the MTN FA Cup competition on Tuesday.

The Ghana FA is relieved by what hopefully is the gradual progress in the situation of its regional football association.

“Teams from the Eastern Region can now take part in Ghana FA competitions and we welcome them,” Ghana FA spokesman Ibrahim Sannie-Daara said.

“It is a relief to all that the Eastern Region can now play football after the legal challenges for the past two years.”

There are however hints the slight progress made will retrogress with one aggrieved party threatening further legal action.
