Ebusua Dwarfs will take legal action against former coach JE Sarpong who alleged that the club’s director of operations to pocket monies meant to bribe referees to influence results in the Ghana Premier League.

Sarpong shortly after he level those allegations on a Kumasi-based radio station he mis-spoke and apologized to the club and John Ansah.

But the Cape-Coast based side want to pursue the matter and sue for defamation.

"Even though he apologized to set the records straight, we will ask our solicitors to take it up. He cannot substantiate what he [Sarpong] is saying. What sort of thing is this?," the club’s Board Secretary John Frederick Mensah told Class FM.

"It has no basis. People think that you should always be giving bribes to referees. When we play at Cape Coast, and we are robbed then, the supporters think that Mr Ansah has been given money to be given to the referees, and his refusal has led to bias by the referees.”

Sarpong was sacked last month after leading the club to the bottom of the table following a 3-0 defeat at Asante Kotoko.
