Former coach of Tema Youth Edward Nii Odoom has confirmed that he will deputize Henry Wellington at Hearts of Oak ahead of the upcoming 2017/18 Ghana Premier League season.

Head coach of the club, Frank Nuttal is currently under suspension for unsporting and unethical behaviours which contradicted the club’s code of conduct according to the statement released by the club last week.

Multiple media reports suggest that the Scotsman has been accused of advising players not to extend their contract with the promise of getting them a new club abroad.

However, reports went widespread on Tuesday that, deputy trainer Henry Wellington has been elevated to take up the reins of the club in the coming campaign, where he will be ably assisted by Edward Odoom, who left Tema Youth after leading the club to relegation last term.

During an interview with Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM, the veteran coach confirmed he's been handed the assistant coaching role ahead of the season.

"Yes, I will be working with Henry Wellington as his assistant," Odoom said.

"Previously, I was meant to coach Auroras but the gap left after the white coach's [Frank Nuttal] issue necessitated this appointment according to management. I was at training today to be introduced to the playing body."
