Edwin Gyimah, speaks on having to adapt to Orlando Pirates’ style of play following his arrival from SuperSport United in 2015.

Speaking to Soccer Laduma in an exclusive interview in edition 965, the Ghanaian defender-cum-midfielder said that as a professional footballer, one must expect tough conditions and adjust accordingly.

“It has been a challenge but as a professional footballer you have to be smart. You need to read the club’s formation and style.

“You need to adopt the culture of the club to really be part of a team,” the former Mpumalanga Black Aces loanee said.

Gyimah has cemented his place in the heart of the Pirates defence alongside, Ayanda Gcaba and has racked up an impressive 15 Absa Premiership appearances thus far, with one assist next to his name.

“The demand to win every game is something you see even before joining Pirates. It is clear this team has a demanding fan base and the expectations are very high.

“A draw often feels like the worst result at Pirates, so I had to raise my game. It is fantastic to realize that I have now settled,” the 25-year-old said.
