Berekum Chelsea centre-back Wilson Akakpo has joined Egyptian Premier League side Al Masry on a three-year deal, the club have confirmed.

Akakpo will stay with the Port Said-based side until the end of the 2016/17 season.

Al Masry coach Tarek Yehia watched the video clips of the hard-tackling player and quickly advised club chairman Yasser Yahya to sign him.

Akakpo will partner Islam Salah after dispensing the services of Hisham Abdel Raouf and Nigerian Okora Akitchoko at the end of last season.

The 22-year played two seasons for Berekum Chelsea in the Ghana Premier League from Ho Hot Steel FC.

He is the first player to be sold by the local club who are in need of cash after bankroller Emmanuel Kyeremeh who relocated to Canada.
