Former Black Stars inspirational captain Stephen Appiah says the ‘big names’ in the Egyptian side to face Ghana on Sunday must serve as a great motivation to the team.

According to Stephen Appiah, it is always a motivation to play against big players to prove a point against them and this game offers the Black Stars players the right platform.

“Big name players must only serve as a motivation to other players.  It is always an opportunity to prove to them that you are better than them,” Appiah told 3news.

“I always like to use myself as an example when I got to my first training at Juventus, I saw all the big players like Antonio Conte, Takenadi, Emerson, Edgar Davids and all the other stars. It was a huge task but I wanted to prove a point and I did,” he added.

“So big players should motivate any player. I am sure when Ghana faced Uganda, our players motivated the Ugandans. It’s not going to be an easy game but Ghana will sail through. Our players are not scared of their players,” he concluded.

Appiah led Ghana to their maiden World Cup in Germany in 2006 and followed it up with another spectacular role at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
