Togo stars Emmanuel Adebayor, Kossi Agassa and Floyd Ayité are still to report to the ‘Sparrow Hawks’ training camp, which resumed in Lomé on Monday.
The Togolese are preparing for their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign opener against Liberia in the country’s capital on 14 June.
To face the ‘Lone Star’, newly appointed head coach Tom Saintfiet mostly relied on the squad that drew 1-1 with Mauritius in Port Louis on 28 March, also calling back SC Bastia midfielder Floyd Ayité and veterans Agassa and Adebayor.
However, the trio is still missing as reported by the Togolese football association.
“On Monday, for the first training session, only 9 players reported to the camp. They have not heard from Emmanuel Adebayor, Kossi Agassa and Floyd Ayité, although they are currently in Lomé,†FTF stated on their official website.
Cédric Mensah, Alban Sabah, Djene Dakonam, Amevor Mawouna, Matthieu Dossevi, Prince Segbefia and Akakpo Serge were expected to report on Monday evening or Tuesday morning, while Olympique Marseille’s defensive midfielder Alaixys Romao had to withdraw with a thigh injury.
“I am recovering from injury, I won’t be able to join the national team,†Romao told Africa Top Sports.
The ‘Sparrow Hawks’ will face Ghana in a friendly in Accra on 7 June before launching their continental journey in their Group A, which also includes Tunisia and Djibouti.
