Esperance new signing Emmanuel Clottey is delighted to have played a part in the side’s progression into the group phase of the CAF Champions League.

The Tunisian giants overcame a stubborn Algerian side JSM Bejaia 1-0 in the return fixture at the Stade Olympique de Rades last weekend.

The Ghanaian international who joined the Blood and Gold at the start of the season was introduced into the game in the 65th minute.

His partnership with Aoudahi provided a sharp attacking force which resulted in the only goal of the match scored by Khalil Chemmam through the spot kick in the 77th minute.

“I am very happy that we've managed to qualify to the money zone after a difficult win,” Clottey told Happy FM

“This is the second time that I will be playing at this stage of the competition and I’m grateful.

“We did it with Berekum Chelsea and it feels great to be at this stage again.

“I am confident we can go all the way to possibly win the title. It’s going to tough but impossible.

“It has been done before and we hope to do it again.”

Clottey joined Esperance on a three-year deal worth $1.5 million at the start of the season.
