Ghana striker Emmanuel Clottey is over-hyped – Al Ahly coach Badry

Emmanuek Clotte has raked in 12 goals in the Caf Champions League

By Patrick Akoto

Al Ahly coach Al Badry claims Berekum Chelsea striker Emmanuel Clottey is being over-hyped.

The 24-year-old has emerged as goal scoring brand on the continent after netting 12-times in the Caf Champions League.

Many have touted the goal scoring prowess of the Ghanaian international but the Al Ahly trainer claims the former Great Olympics man is overblown.

“ Clottey is a good player but he is not the super attacker everyone makes him out to be. I saw him in the last match and though I liked his way of playing I insist that he is not the best we have faced,” Al Badry is quoted by supersport.

” I even spoke with our former Ghanaian player Felix Ahmed Aboagye and he agreed with my opinion. But I would still like to have a player like Clottey in my team but his club absurd price on him pretty much negates that from happening,”

“I badly need a midfielder and a good attacker. I can wait on the midfielder but I can’t with the forward. My team suffers because of this.”

Clottey is just a goal shy of equaling Stepehn Worgu’s 13-goal haul set in 2008.

I saw the game against Al Ahly and I agree. Clottey is good but he is not great. I would not count on him being a lone striker up top on the World Stage. He is effective if you have someone with him up front. However, when the defense focuses on him, he has trouble.

Kwasia ofui man like that!!!! U think say u be smarter than ghanaians? You simply said that about the boy because of the price tag and is vividly clear that U want the boy in your team but u want buy him simply because he is too expensive!!! U have your opinion and is not going to change nothing about the fact that, the champions league started on the same day with your so called players and non of them has so far scored 12 goals!!! So if ghanaians and for that matter the rest of africans have seen the potential in this boy we certainly don’t give a fuck about what u say ok!!! U can mention hossni mubarak, aboutrika zaki etc that does not change anything…. who is felix aboagye??? Oh the former ghanaian over the bar stricker!!! I watched this guy and could even control a ball!!! No wonder he has such an opinion about a better player!!

@Selfmade. You have such a foul mouth and are usually so quick to comment and judge others on almost every article posted on this site. Can’t you make your point without being so vitriolic? Describing Felix Aboagyethe way you did obviously indicates that you’ve hardly, if ever, watched him play. Stop your sarcasm and give credit where it’s due. Would you also say Tony Yeboah was a mediocre player and yet he has also previously maintained that Clottey is over-hyped!
