Empoli coach disappointed for lost opportunity against Frosinone

Empoli coach Marco Giampaolo was disappointed his team missed a chance to grab points in the defeat to Frosinone.

Giampaolo added his side did not have the right mentality to win the game, and threw away an opportunity to reach the 40 point safety mark.

“We let slip a chance to make sure we reach the survival mark this season,” he told reporters.

“We did not have the right mentality to get a win and were not clinical enough in front of goal.

“They succeeded in scoring the chances they had, we did not.

“We did not underestimate Frosinone, we simply lacked accuracy and were nervous at times, and ultimately we were punished harshly for our mistakes,” he admitted.

Frosinone won 2-1 in Empoli, after taking the lead early in the first half, then scoring the 2-1 late in the second after Massimo Maccarone had equalised in between.
