Chelsea are accelerating their interest in Augsburg star Abdul Rahman Baba after his agent was spotted in London over the past few days, reports Tutto Mercato Web.

Baba, 20, is an exciting full-back and made 31 appearances for Augsburg in the Bundesliga last season. According to TMW, he looks set to make a move to a big European club with Chelsea and Juventus chasing his signature.

The full-back created 24 chances in the German top flight last term, nine more than any other defender at the club.

The 20-year-old assisted four goals and his impressive 2014/15 campaign has seen Chelsea make advances in his way. TMW are reporting that talks with his agent and Chelsea have taken place so it seems that Jose Mourinho is set to make Baba Rahman one of his summer signings as the Portuguese boss looks for a way to retain his title.

The Italian outlet also claims that Chelsea are prepared to make an offer of €15 million (£10.6m), though Augsburg are holding out for €20 million, which equates to just under £15m and in terms of a valuation tallies with reports elsewhere among the British press (via Mirror).

The Blues romped their way to the title during the recently concluded campaign with arguably the two best full-backs in the division in Branislav Ivanovic and Cesar Azpilicueta. Adding a young talent like Baba, then, could be a great move as he could provide cover for the two first-team stars.

Baba not only impressed in attack in the Bundesliga, as the 20-year-old full-back won a remarkable 91 tackles and 77 headed duels last season.
