English Premier League side Stoke City could make a swoop for Ghanaian youth defender Godfred Donsah who plays in Italy for Cagliari.

The Staffordshire-based side have watched the young defender who could also play in a defensive midfield role and might have a move for him January if their other transfer targets fail.

Donsah is just 19 and Stoke manager Mark Hughes is excited about his power and aggression.

However, other experienced players have been targeted for January when the transfer window opens.

But they will make a bid to sign him from Cagliari - where he has played seven Serie A games this season, if they fail to land any of their top targeted players.
