English Championship side Queens Park Rangers and Wolverhampton Wanderers both tried to sign Ghana attacker Ebenezer Assifuah from Swiss side FC Sion but their bids crushed.

The former Premier League sides both expressed interests in signing the 22-year-old from the Swiss Super League side but they could not harness their desire to land the energetic forward.

GHANAsoccernet.com checks can confirm Sion President Christian Constantine did not favour the deal and failed to give it attention leaving the English sides to abandon their chase.

Wolves and QPR have been monitoring the former Liberty Professionals player since he scored against Liverpool at Anfield in the Europa League.

QPR are expected to maintain their interest in the 2013 FIFA U20 World Cup Golden Shoe Award winner and launch another bid to sign him next summer.
