Ernest Asante not keen on Danish League goal king crown

Ghanaian winger Ernest Asante says he is not keen on winning the top scorers award despite his remarkable start to the Danish SuperLiga season.

The 28-year-old scored his fifth goal of the campaign over the weekend when he bagged a brace against newly promoted side Lyngby.

Asante, however, insists he's just happy helping the team achieve their goals and played down early talks of him clinching the goal king award.

“I’m just happy to score goals when it can help the team win. It’s great to score goals, but it’s too early to talk about being top scorer.” Asante told his club’s website.

“We believe a lot about ourselves right now and we are on the pitch to win each time. We will also try this next time."

“I’m just glad that the team wins again. We have shown that everything is possible when we stand together and help each other. We are highly motivated for ever more. There were not really any expectations for us at the start of the season, but we made it work as a team and that’s what it’s all about. Then everything is possible.”

The speedy winger has previously featured for Feyenoord Ghana, Beveren, IK Start and Stabek.
