Espanyol's wunderkind, Paul Quaye, says he has fixed his sights firmly on earning a call-up into the Ghana U20 team.

The 17-year-old became the second youngest player to play in the Spanish La Liga after coming off the bench to play for Espanyol in the 5-1 win over Rayo Vallecano last season, aged 16 years and 177 days.

Quaye, a nephew of Accra Hearts of Oak legend Shamo Quaye, has been impressive for Espanyol II in the Segunda Division and Los Periquitos boss Mauricio Pochettino is set to recall him into his first team squad.

The former Aspire Academy boy believes his immense abilities in midfield would be vital additions to the Black Satellites squad.

"I'm very interested in playing for the Ghana U20 team and when the opportunity comes, I'll welcome it," Quaye told Ghanasoccernet.com.

"The season has gone very well for me and I believe I will reclaim my place in the first team squad," he added.

Spain courted the young midfield dynamo in 2011 but he turned down their invitations and declared his intentions to play for Ghana.

Ghana have qualified for the 2013 African U-20 Championship which will come off next March.
