Esperance confirm Afful departure after World Cup, set to join Marseille
Harrison Afful will leave Esperance at the end of the World Cup

Tunisian side Esperance have confirmed that their Ghanaian defender Harrison Afful will leave the club after the World Cup in June with French giants Marseille likely to be his next destination.

Ghana's leading football news outlet GHANAsoccernet.com revealed last month that Afful could join Marseille at the end of the season as the French club are seeking his signature.

Now Esperance have revealed that they will allow the utility player to leave after he has played in the World Cup with the Black Stars in June.

“Afful is still under contract with us and so he cannot leave the team now, but after the World Cup, yes,” director of Esperance Reyad Ben Nour told Citi FM Sports.

“He has been one of the most successful guys from Ghana ever to play in Tunisia and the crowds know and appreciate that. He leaves with our full blessing."

Afful joined Esoerance five years ago from Ghanaian giants Kotoko and has become a crowd favourite for his discipline and loyalty to the Tunisian side.

He helped them to win an African Champions League title, four Tunisian league titles and one Tunisia President’s Cup, playing a key role in their successes in the past four years.
