Defender Harrison Afful is expecting a quick return to the senior national team following his exploits in this year's Caf Champions League with Tunisian club Esperance.

The 25-year-old left-back has been an integral component of the club's impressive run in Africa's flagship club competition.

Afful making a return from suspension aided his side in masterminding a shocking 1-0 win away to Sudanese club Al Hilal and hopes his recent surge in form catches the eye of the Black Stars coach, Goran Stevanovic.

"I have been part of the Black Stars team before and therefore I hope I still have a place in the team," he said.

"I am focused on giving my best to my club but I hope officials of the national team will take note of my performance and hand me a call-up when an opening emerges."

Afful has been in and out of the Black Stars team in the several failed attempts in finding a competent natural left-back since making his debut in 2008 in the Africa Cup of Nations semi final game against Cote d'Ivoire.
