Ghana’s influential midfielder Michael Essien has admitted that the Black Stars face a tough task at the World Cup in June but insists they will fight for results at the tournament in Brazil.

Ghana have been drawn in the Group of Death at the tournament which has left some fans dejected claiming the Black Stars can’t qualify from the group.

The Black Stars are in Group G along with the USA, Germany and Portugal.

Ghana will face the Americans in their opening game in Natal and Essien says they will fight to improve on their previous record at the tournament.

“Well I’m looking forward to going to the World Cup with my country and we will see what happens,” the newly signed AC Milan midfielder said.

“We are in a very difficult group but in football you never know what is going to happen.

“We will go there and give everything and see what will happen,” the former Chelsea player said.

Ghana reached the quarter final of the previous World Cup in South Africa in 2010.
