Michael Essien has made the Real Madrid squad that travels to take on Real Valladolid on Saturday.

The Ghana international has fully recovered from an allergic drug reaction that has kept him out for three weeks.

The on-loan midfielder began light training on his own last week after seeking extra medical help from his parent club, Chelsea.

He however joined the group in full scale training on Friday and was passed fit to join the 20-man travelling party for the La Liga game on Saturday.

The news comes as a major boost for the ex Lyon player who is eager to regain his form that earned him the reputation as one of the finest midfielders of his kind in the world.

Essien’s return has also debunked earlier reports he was unlikely to feature for the Spanish champions this year with the uncertainty surrounding his recent illness.

It however remains to be seen whether he will make the final 18-man team for the crucial away fixture.
