Midfielder Michael Essien may be sidelined for this weekend's London derby between Chelsea and Tottenham.
The Ghanaian was subbed off early in the second half of last week's 3-0 win over West Ham United with a knee injury.
The problem is not serious after he had scans but it may be enough to keep him out of the visit by Harry Redknapp and his Spurs.
