Europa League: Ghana's Frank Acheampong on target against Monaco as Anderlecht brush past French giants
Frank Acheampong celebrates his goal for Anderlecht

Ghana international winger Frank Acheampong ended his 14-month goal drought by climbing off the Anderlecht bench to score in their 2-0 away triumph over French Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco on Thursday.

Anderlecht have moved above Monaco and into the top two with one match to go. The visitors terminate a run of 13 European away games without a win and end Monaco's six-match unbeaten sequence at home in the process.

Acheampong had not scored for Anderlecht since finding the net for Anderlecht against Zulte-Waregem in the Pro League in mid-December 2014.

After climbing off the bench to replace Dennis Praet in the 76th minute, the former King Faisal winger finished off the game for Anderlecht and hammer the nail in Monaco's coffin.

Senegalese international Serigne Mbodji eased his way through the Monaco back before finding Acheampong who applied a great artistry to control the ball and found the net with a composed finish.

The goal was his first of the competition and Anderlecht have gone second on the chart, trailing leaders Tottenham Hotspur with three points.
