Liverpool have confirmed their place in the Uefa Europa League final thanks to a confident 3-0 win against Villarreal at home.
A superb display by Liverpool in the first 45 meant they deservedly had the lead at half-time courtesy of Bruno’s own-goal. However, despite all their pressure, Liverpool did at times looked vulnerable in defence in the first half, with Gaspar, Dos Santos and Bakambu all going close.
In the second half the Reds ramped up the pressure. A goal from Daniel Sturridge in the 63rd minute put Liverpool 2-0 ahead [Agg 2-1] and VÃctor RuÃz Torre's red card sealed the deal for the club. Adam Lallana 81st minute goals was simply icing on the cake.
Liverpool have swept aside Villarreal to proceed into the Europa League final! It was a dominant performance from Jurgen Klopp’s side, who will face the current holders Sevilla in Basel on the 18th of May!
