Everton hero Tony Cottee feels Roberto Martinez's squad is three players short.
Only five teams have conceded more goals than Everton in the Premier League this season, with the Toffees languishing in 12th position in the league.
“I don’t think Everton are that far away,” he told Sky Sports. “You look at the spine of the team, with Lukaku, Barkley and Stones - that’s three fantastic players there and going forward you’d think they’d be fine.
“They’ve got a good squad now. I think they need to add to it defensively. They need a goalkeeper, certainly, and maybe another centre back and perhaps another holding midfielder.
“Obviously something’s not quite working because of the goals they’ve conceded.”
