Former Ghana Football Association chairman Ben Koufie has defended Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah's decision to drop Olympique Marseille attacker Jordan Ayew.

The 21-year-old has been axed from Ghana's provisional 26-man squad for the 2013 AFCON despite his impressive form in the French Ligue 1.

Coach Kwesi Appiah has insisted the Marseille player of the month of November for purely footballing reasons.

And Ben Koufie believes Kwesi Appiah's reasons to exclusion Jordan is justified enough.

"He said he has looked at all the strikers available and believes he is not what he wants for now so we should accept it and pray for the team," the 80-year-old Caf technical instructor said.

Jordan has bagged seven goals in all competitions for Marseille this season.
