Ex-GHALCA boss J.Y Appiah will contest the vice-chairmanship position of the opposition New Patriotic Party in the Brong Ahafo Region. GHANAsoccernet.com can reveal. 

The astute football administrator is venturing into politics after over two decades of being involved in the game.

The former Ghana League Clubs Association boss has confirmed he will contest on the ticket of Ghana’s main opposition party at their next regional congress.

“I will contest for the vice-chairmanship position of the NPP. I will still be involved in football but at the moment I want to do politics," he said.

“I decided to contest on the ticket of the NPP because that is the party I belong to.

“It has been my dream to serve my people and I think the time is ripe for me to serve them well and that’s why I am contesting for the position.”

The veteran football administrator was instrumental in the transformation of the club’s umbrella body.

It was during his tenure that the Top-Four was introduced which received mega sponsorship packages.
