Former Black Stars captain CK Akunnor says the warm reception given the team in Tamale should be the elixir for victory over Guinea on Wednesday in their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Black Stars have had red carpet treatment from fans in the Northern Regional capital and the two Upper Regions since touching down on Monday afternoon.

This is sharp contrast to how they were received in Kumasi last month for the opener against Uganda which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Akunnor, who has not been impressed with the team’s output in recent times, says Tamale will give the team a perfect platform to start all over again.

“We all know the performance has not been the best in recent times,” the former Wolfsburg captain said.

“But with the kind of welcome the people of Tamale gave them I will expect they also go the extra mile to impress and give them back love with a good performance and a strong win.”
