Former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has dismissed reports that he is blaming his assistant coach, Maxwell Konadu for his dismissal as the Black Stars coach insisting the media report is calculated to damage their 'perfect relationship'.
Micky Charles, a close confidant of the former Black Stars coach, says the coach has expressed surprised in the report insisting the ex-Ghana coach has full confidence in his assistant.
Charles says the two coaches met two days ago to discuss other issues and laughed off the report in the 90 MINUTES newspaper that Appiah blamed Konadu for stabbing him in the back leading to his exit.
While laughing off the report, Charles says the coach lamented the report insisting it could create tension among the two men as they have a perfect relationship with no suspicion of back stabbing.
"The media must be careful about reporting on such issues because there is absolutely no truth in the report that the two men are at loggerheads over Appiah's exit," Charles told Asempa FM.
"The two men were together last night and expressed their surprise at the report. Kwesi Appiah has never said that Maxwell stabbed him in the back. Their relationship is perfect. But for the trust between the two men this report could have caused a tension."
According to the 90 MINUTES newspaper who quoted an impeccable source close to Kwesi Appiah in an exclusive interview, members of the technical team feel betrayed by the action of Maxwell Konadu, whom they have christened as ‘Nyantakyi’s doodle’.
The report described Konadu as Nyantakyi’s boy after having managed his team (Wa All Stars) in the past for which reason many perceive Konadu was done a favour by his being pushed up into the national team.
Konadu has taken temporary charge of the Black Stars until a substantive coach is found.
