Ex-Ghana coach Rajevac set for Al Ahly debut tonight

Ex-Ghana coach Milovan Rajevac will make his debut as coach of Saudi side Al Ahli on Thursday night as they take on city rival Al Ittihad.

The Serbian will be in charge of the game just three days after he officially failed to sign a new contract to extend his stay at the Black Stars coach.

Al Ahli made the decision to appoint Rajevac as the new man in charge of the club's senior side to stem the tide of recent bad results.

The two-time league champions were in the market for a new head coach following the departure of Trond Sollied earlier this month.

The Norwegian gaffer was sacked because of Al Ahli's disappointing results.

But Ghanaians will be keen on the result in Rajevac's opening game given that he excelled with the Black Stars with good quality players.

The former Ghana chief has signed a one-year deal with the Saudi Arabian outfit. Rajevac stepped down as Ghana coach last week.

The Serbian gaffer guided the Black Stars to the quarter-finals at the 2010 World Cup, where they were beaten after penalties by Uruguay.

Al Ahli are currently 10th in the 14-team Saudi League table after managing just one win and three defeats in four matches.
