Ex-Ghana international Joe Addo does not believe John Pantsil has done enough to represent the country at this year’s FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
The experienced right-back is still holding onto a dream of playing at his third successive World Cup after enjoying regular playing time at South African second-tier side Santos FC.
The 32-year-old faces stiff competition from Samuel Inkoom and Daniel Opare especially in the race to the global showpiece in Brazil.
However, former Ghana star Joe Addo, has doubt about Pantsil’s potential inclusion in the team due to the presence of other talented players.
“I have my doubt about John (Pantsil). When you look at his position, we have other equally good replacement,†he said
“Opare and Inkoom did well during the qualifiers and so I don’t see why they will not make the World Cup squad.
“John may be doing well at Santos but I don’t think he has done enough to be in Brazil.
“But of course the decision lies with Kwesi Appiah and will take the decision at some point.
“But in my view there are other solid defenders who can take over from him.â€
Pantsil has not played for the side since the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations where the country placed fourth.
The former Fulham man is the second most capped Black Stars player with 88 appearances, two less than goalkeeper Richard Kingson.
