Ex-Ghana FA chief Jawula wants Kwesi Appiah to stay in charge of Black Stars

Kwesi Appiah will stay in charge of the Black Stars

Ex-Ghana FA president, Lepowura M.N.D. Jawula, has given strong backing for Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah, describing him as the leading coach in Ghana at the moment who needs to be given support to succeed.

He said being the head coach of the Black Stars makes Appiah the nation’s foremost coach at present thus requiring an upgrade of his credentials to enable him to excel in his job in the next two years his new contract is supposed to last.

While endorsing the GFA’s decision to retain the former national captain as head coach of the Stars, he emphasised that the rigours of the Stars job demands that Kwasi Appiah further builds his capacity to enhance the nation’s chances in future assignments.

“As the leading coach I expect the FA to send him for coaching courses to help him upgrade himself because he has now reached a stage where club attachments and certificate courses may not be enough,” Lepowura noted.

He, therefore, suggested to the FA to assist the Stars trainer to embark on foreign programmes to build his capacity and put him in a better position to achieve more laurels with the Stars for the nation.

He, however, had some wise counsel for Kwasi Appiah which he thought was not for public consumption.

“I have some personal advice for him but I will do so when I meet him one-on-one,” he pointed out.

Alhaji Jawula also advised the GFA to select some up-and-coming Ghanaian coaches and empower them as back-up for the Stars and the other national teams.

He mentioned coaches such as Maxwell Konadu, C.K. Akonnor, Mas-ud Didi Dramani, Abukari Damba, and a few others as having the potential to take Ghana Football to places in future.

He said the FA could send these coaches on systematic attachments with top European clubs such as Barcelona, Manchester United, Manchester City, and others in order to upgrade their knowledge in the modern trends of the game.

Alhaji: we respect, adore and appreciates you since your days with RTU to the time you became the boss of the FA till date.... However, Kwesi Appiah is a perfect gentleman but the stars trainer is not for him. If any local coach should be given the time and chances given to Appiah,(capito) it should be Sellas Tetteh. Appiah had his chances now, is the time for someone else. I beg to differ Alhaji. We do t want you commenting on this issue.

Totally disagree. He is not the leading coach. He was given a chance and hour fell short woefully. Hour may be a good person with good intentions, but that is not what the manager of the team is about. He lacks the communication skills required for this level of position, not creative enough to promote vision required to achieve to the potential of the talented players we have. He was an assistant coach promoted to head coach of a bug team like the black stars, without ever being head coach in his career on any level. Lucky break. But he needs to manage a smaller team to fill in the gaps

hahahaha, "when i meet him one-on-one".....i.e: to collect my share of the money. lol. why else would you advocate for a man who has been an assistant for all these years, taken courses and gone on many attachments to foreign clubs to so called learn and is still clueless. The job is just too much for AA, and the only reason he is still on is because pot-bellied nyantakyi has him wrapped around his finger..

Alhaji your time has passed and your are old and loosing your bearings so can't make good suggestions. Appiah is always quiet nice and gentle but not a good coach for the National. Even Ex-co GFA executive members will not hire Appiah to coach their clubs.

AA cannot manage the black stars period. AA was with the black stars during Milo and Plavi times as managers. AA then managed black stars in South Africa 2013, and things went bad. AA then manages the black stars at Brazil 2014 and things went from bad to worse for the black stars. All they can say is 'we are sorry' . You think these people have anything better to offer? We may not even qualify to afcon and next World Cup if the GFA still remain as it is now and clueless AA remains coach/manager.

The BS coaching position is NOT for trainees. If Kwesi Appiah, who has proven his incompetence beyond a doubt, wants to upgrade his coaching skills, then he should resign and go back to school and be attached to a club team for his practical training. BS is too big for him and none of our top players will ever give him respect because he is simply UNQUALIFIED for the job. GFA only hired him so they can call the shot and manipulate him to select players who bribe them and to fix BS matches for money. In coach Appiah's appointment was all about control and money for the GFA. The GFA and coach Appiah should be investigated and prosecuted for fraud and corruption!!!!

Simply because he is not an Ashanti or northern ashanti,it speaks volumes of how stupid the mentality of these narrow minded ghanaians, who've designated certain posts as their family belongings. It does not bode well for a country's future,an immense shame in this modern times.

Do this people think before they speak or what, or they see something that we all can't see? it time we stop pampering people and take action to fix problems. How many years do you want to give this incompetent, tactical bankrupt , and clueless coach? Akwesi Appiah is the most dumb coach in the history of black stars, almost 4 years with the stars n yet don't have a starting 11? the sooner he leaves the better cos Ghana can't win even a pin with him in charge.

FYI Ghana (GFA clean house ASAP!!) Scolari's assistant Carlos Alberto Parreira, though, said this was now a time to re-examine Brazilian football after admitting Germany were far more advanced in all aspects of the game. "They have numerous training centres for athletes, for coaches too, and the result was seen here,'' he said. "German football is the perfect base and we now have a chance to rethink, revise and invest in better training of athletes. "We need to improve and focus on training athletes from the clubs and give full attention to it, provide good structure and train good professionals.''

The bs coaching position has nothing to do with tribes and is shameful how some people wlawys want to bring certain tribes into play when talked about the national team! What has Ashanti gotta to do with this discussion and if AA is an Ashanti, what is wrong with it? Is an Ashanti not a Ghanaian too or some tribes are more Ghanaian than Ashanti's right? So Ashanti's has been the black stars coaches from time immemorial? What about Sam duodu? What about the junior teams that are handled by non Ashanti's? Is the gfa wrong not to have given the positions to non Ashanti's? How about our fa president, is he an Ashanti too? Is AA an Ashanti too? We are all mourning as Ghanaians because of the dismay and pathetic performances of our national team irrespective of tribes or party and someone ll intentionally pinpoint Ashanti's as the culprit and that leaves much to be desired! That's a low blow? Was AA representing Ghanaians or ashantis!?!! Please is about time we shed ourselves from this colonial mentality and shackles because DEEP DOWN WE ARE ALL THE SAME and an ewe, ga, northern are not diff from an ashanti! It should be Ghana first before tribes and is so sad that we still see ourselves as tribes rather than as a country! Divided we fall! It should be one nation under God! AA is an AKAN but not an Ashanti but all these jargons are useless because we a are all the same!
