Former Ghana goalkeeper Richard Kingson has revealed he felt "disrespected" after he being snubbed for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.

Serbian coach Goran Stevanovic picked Norwegian-born Adam Kwarasey ahead of the longest-serving shot-stopper for the tournament held in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

The 39-year-old was left in the cooler -leading to his decision to retire from the national team after making 90 appearances for the West Africans.

And the former Birmingham City, Wigan and Blackpool glovesman, has revealed he felt disrespected by the decision of the Serbian gaffer.

"At that moment when I heard I had been changed, I felt disrespected, because if anything I should have been informed because I was prepared for the tournament and you don’t wait for the last minute," he is quoted by Starr Sports

"I am not saying I am the only goalkeeper, but I should have been properly informed.

“Since then I accepted the decision and advised myself, but this taught me a huge lesson on how to deal with people.”

Kingson is currently the goalkeepers' trainer of the Black Stars after an illustrious international career with Ghana.
