Ex-Ghana international Stephen Baidoo has backed New Edubiase to excel at next year’s Caf Confederations Cup.

The Bekwai-based side beat AshantiGold 1-0 in the final of the MTN Ghana FA Cup on Sunday to win their first silverware since they gained promotion to the country’s top-flight three seasons ago.

Bankroller David Lampety has promised funds will be made available for the side to compete in the competition next year.

Baidoo, a former AshantiGold midfielder, is confident they will stand out.

“They won the competition on merit and I believe they will do well in the Confederations cup if they continue like this,” Baidoo said

“They were tactically disciplined and got the important goal through that well- taken free kick.

“Playing in Africa is a different ball game but with what Chelsea has done so far in the Caf Champions League, I believe they will do well. I have no doubt in my mind.”

Edubiase won the competition without conceding a goal and scored 12 times.
