Ex-Ghana president John Agyekum Kufuor has advised Kotoko supporters to measure their criticism of the team as they fight to regain continental pedigree.

The dethroned Ghanaian champions have struggled to challenge emerging forces on the continent after playing catch-ups in Africa’s elite inter club competition.

Despite dominating the domestic scene in the last three years, the Porcupine Warriors have been far from convincing on the continent after crushing out in several previous attempts in the knockout phase.

But the former Ghanaian leader has urged for patience as he pleads for the ‘internal politics’ in the club to cease.

“The internal politics in Kotoko is too much, I believe that it’s high time we the supporters pipe down a bit to allow the players to play professionally and also from their heart to get the best results,” he said

“When you wear the Kotoko jersey, many at times, you tend to suffer the wrath of the supporters. Because of the intense passion they tend not to be tolerant at all but should know that the players are human since in football they have their bad days and good days as well.”

Kotoko are the undisputed kings of the Ghana Premier League, having won it a record 23-times, three more than sworn-rivals Hearts of Oak.
