Kortrijk midfielder Asiedu Attobrah used to be a household name in the Ghanaian local league for at least three three seasons. There’s no doubt that he was one of the best attacking midfielders in the country some four seasons ago.

He featured for the Ghana U-20 side and the Local Black Stars.

Asiedu joined the Belgian Pro League side after his contract with Edubiase expired and decided not to extend, therefore leaving as a free agent.

The likes of Asante Kotoko, Hearts Of Oak, Aduana Stars tried several times to secure his signature but hit a snag.

The former Zaytuna midfielder tells FMIG that he never hoped to become a footballer but a renowned lawyer.

He indicated that his mother didn’t like the idea whiles his father was very supportive.

Footballmadeinghana.com caught up with him for an exclusive interview for a gist of his career at his tender age.

Below is the full text of the conversation that took place between FMIG’s Daniel Osei and Asiedu Attobrah.

Where and when did you start your football?

I was born in Accra. At a tender age I started playing football. I started at Ashaiman and played colts football in Tema. I played for Young Brazilians. At age 10 I was playing in the U-12 league.

Did you face any challenges?

Yeah! My mother always beat me for going out to play football but my dad was very supportive. My mom didn’t like the idea.

Whom did you look up to when you started playing football?

I studied Charles Taylor and Don Bortey. They were my role models.

Did you wish to become a footballer?

No! I had wanted to become a lawyer because I was good in school and that’s why my mother tried to stop me from playing football at my tender age.

Which school did you attend?

I attended Andre Memorial School and then went to Great Medass Secondary School in

Tema where I did General Arts.

Which team did you leave to join Edubiase?

I was playing Zaytuna before I left for New Edubiase. It’s Edubiase that people started to recognize me more. I thank God as well as everyone who was involved. It was not my strength.

What is your memorable match and why?

Edubiase’s first Middle League game against Dwarfs at the Accra Sports Stadium. We beat them 1-0. After beating Dwarfs we knew qualification was assured. Seidu Bancey scored that goal through my assist.

What is the greatest thing you want to achieve in football?

I want to win awards and be among the best players Ghana would ever produce.

Will you like to coach or do something related to football after your retirement?

I want to be a scout or a player agent. I want to help young talents because I was helped by someone.

Just for clarification, did you have any problems with coach Maxwell Konadu during the 2014 WAFU Tournament which was played in Kumasi?

Noooo and never. I play with him a lot than any other player in camp during that time. You can ask him because he even confirmed that on air. I don’t know why people do that but I have forgotten about that. I know what I will be in future so I don’t keep problems in me and around me. I hate lies but that is life. They lied about me to Ghana and that can destroy my career but I’m cool.God knows best.
