Former Ghana youth winger Ishmael Yartey emerged triumphant over his Ghanaian compatriot Lumor Agbenyenu as the duo clash in the Portuguese Cup on Wednesday night.
Both players started the game and lasted the entire duration at the Estádio Cidade de Barcelos as the regulation time ended in a 1-1 stalemate before Gil Vicente went ahead to win 4-3 on penalties.
Yartey, who recently returned from injury, played a crucial role for Gil as he orchestrated series of attacks from the left flanks.
While Lumor, an FC Porto loanee, also enjoyed a memorable night as Fabricio scored a second-half goal to cancel out a 45th minute opener from Goba for the host. The Ivorian's goal was his third of the season.
Yartey has played six league games for Gil Vicente who are gunning for promotion back to the Portuguese top-flight league.
He is on loan from Swiss side FC Sion.
