Ghanaian defender Karim Alhassan has joined Turkish second tier club Adana Demirspor.

The 21-year-old signed a two-year contract on Friday to officially bring to an end his torrid time with Egyptian giants Zamalek.

The former Hearts of Oak captain thus becomes the first African to join the Adana-based club in their 72-year history.

Alhassan is expected to go straight into the team for their season opener away to Boluspor on Saturday.

And he hopes to make a much better impact on just his second international transfer.

“I am determined to relaunch my career after a difficult time at Zamalek and therefore I ask for the support and prayers from all to ensure my time here (Adana) is a success,” he told Kumasi-based Angel FM.

The former Ghana youth international was reported to be making a return to former club Hearts of Oak but he says no official contact was made.

“No team in Ghana contacted me with respect to a move. I received a call from officials of Adana who expressed interest in me and that is why I have joined them,” he added.
