Ex-Kotoko captain Nii Adjei pleads with Porcupines to give Dong Bortey a chance
Bernard Dong Bortey wants to play for Kotoko

Former Kotoko captain Daniel Nii Adjei says the Porcupine Warriors must give a chance to controversial Bernard Dong Bortey to prove his worth for the Kumasi-based club after the striker pleaded for the chance for play for the Ghanaian giants.

Bortey, who is a free agent after his sojourn in Equatorial Guinea, issued a passionate plea last week to the Kotoko leadership to give him the chance to play for the club.

The former Hearts of Oak striker has previously been accused of playing tricks on the Porcupines when they sought the opportunity to sign him when he was in his prime.

Now that Bortey is virtually begging for the chance to play the Porcupines, Nii Adjei, who now plays for DR Congo club TP Mazembe, says the striker must be given the chance.

“I think they should offer him the chance. The player has stated he is dying to wear the red jersey for once in his lifetime to compete for the club. It is his dream to add Asante Kotoko to the clubs he has played for in his career. I think he should be considered,” Nii Adjei said.

“But it depends on Kotoko, if they think they need him, they should give him the chance. But I feel that he should be given the chance.”

Bortey helped Hearts of Oak to win several titles.
